What is the MENA Maritime Accelerator

The MENA Maritime Accelerator (previously Maritime ClimAccelerator), through its vast network of collaborators, will offer participating start-ups funding, training, peer to peer coaching and theme-specific mentoring (both virtually and in-person). Up to 5 startups will be accepted per year and will be asked to provide innovative solutions for the transition to sustainability of the maritime industry, both locally and globally, and will be given the opportunity to present their ideas in front of investors, port authorities and shipping companies. The MENA Maritime Accelerator will thus provide start-ups with a unique opportunity to test, demonstrate and validate their solution.

Following an exciting first cohort of high-calibre start-ups in 2021, the MENA Maritime Accelerator is pleased to announce the 2nd call for start-ups. In 2021, a total of 26 start-ups have been selected from a pool of applicants from 21 countries across the globe, with innovative solutions in alternative propulsion systems, environmental measurement, monitoring and control, alternative energy, business models and low carbon logistics. All innovators and start-ups who did not get a chance to apply in our first call, are invited to apply here.

Cyprus University of Technology, Sustainable Development Unit of ATHENA RC, Cyprus Energy Agency, Chrysalis LEAP, and Cleantech Bulgaria together with a vast network of collaborators from around the world, are committed in both supporting and developing start-ups and assisting the maritime industry achieve its climate targets.
